Metallurgical Consulting

Very often, to obtain the maximum value out of test programs at any laboratory, a client needs to retain some senior level specialist expertise in the field, and Blue Coast has strived to ensure this expertise is available to the client. However, Blue Coast recognises that many clients have in-house capability or retained consultants who are capable of providing high level guidance to the testwork programs executed by our laboratory.

Accordingly, our consulting group, Blue Coast Metallurgy, operates as a quasi-separate entity from the laboratory, so only providing those services when needed. This way, the client has the choice to contract only the services of the laboratory, the consultancy, or can contract both.

Our consulting group offers:

  • A combined experience base spanning more than 100 years.

  • Considerable breadth in expertise in gold, silver, platinum group metals, copper and base metals, as well as specialist metals such as niobium and vanadium.

  • Operations experience to chief metallurgist, mill manager or Corporate VP level in crushing and grinding, gravity, flotation, cyanidation, heap leaching, pyrometallurgy and both acid and alkaline hydrometallurgy.

  • Expertise in mine environmental support and water treatment.

  • Project experience from up to 400 projects and access to extensive project technical databases.

Our consultants typically provide high level process interpretation and guidance to the client and the project managers. In addition, basic process economic models are created with the aim of enhancing the quality of decision-making in process development.

In addition our consultants provide QP services and author testwork and process sections of 43-101 reports on behalf our clients and act as consultants, guiding work in other laboratories, working with engineers to link testwork data to engineering. We also provide support for due diligence and, typically working with engineering companies, provide specialist support for value engineering projects.
