Chris Martin – President & Principal Metallurgist

Chris is a registered Chartered Engineer, graduated with degrees from Camborne School of Mines and McGill University, and has more than 25 years’ experience in mineral processing. Chris has plant commissioning and operations experience from Canada, the United States and South Africa at positions up to Plant Superintendent, and was formerly manager of the Mineral Processing and Mineralogy group at Lakefield and was General Manager of SGS Vancouver Metallurgy. Chris managed or consulted to over 250 projects, including over 20 feasibility studies, many of which have subsequently been successfully taken into production.

Andrew Kelly – General Manager

Andrew is a professional engineer with over fourteen years of experience covering both laboratory and plant operations. Prior to joining Blue Coast, Andrew was with Barrick Gold in Nevada where he held a series of progressively responsible positions; most recently as Superintendent, Process Technical Services at Barrick's Goldstrike mine. Before Barrick, Andrew was with Xstrata Process Support in Sudbury, Ontario.

Andrew holds a degree in chemical engineering from the University of New Brunswick and is a licenced professional engineer in British Columbia and Ontario. Andrew joined Blue Coast in 2014.

Dave Middleditch – Business Development Manager

A graduate of the Camborne School of Mines, Dave has managed and consulted on over 30 flowsheet development projects. Prior to joining the Blue Coast team, Dave was the metallurgical lead for the Lalor project at Hudbay Minerals and was laboratory supervisor and project manager at Xstrata Process Support in Sudbury, Ontario for 5 years.

Dave is also no stranger to the operations side of the industry and has worked at Rössing Uranium, Namibia as a junior metallurgist, Crowflight's Bucko Lake operation, Manitoba as production metallurgist and acting Mill Superintendent as well as short term assignments in a number of other mills in the Americas. Dave cofounded Blue Coast Research in 2011, and in 2017 moved primarily into a Business Development role while continuing to be available for laboratory projects and operations assignments.

Benjamin Bichel – Laboratory Supervisor

A graduate of Simon Fraser University and British Columba Institute of Technology, Ben has a combined ten years analytical experience assaying mining products. Prior to joining the Blue Coast team, Ben was a Senior Assay Technician at Acme Labs at their flagship lab in Vancouver Canada. He has extensive experiencing in both fire and wet assay where he has analysed a wide range of ore types, from low grade Porphyry copper and Cu-Ni-PGM deposits to Cu-Pb-Zn VMS and Sedex Deposits. To meet individual clients’ needs Ben has developed AA methods, analytical leaches, and custom fire assay procedures. Ben joined Blue Coast in 2013 and is currently managing the daily operations in the lab.

Mira Labedzki – Administrative Coordinator

Mira graduated with honours in a master engineering degree from the University of Agriculture in Poznan. Upon graduating, Mira worked in the main Horticultural Institute of Leipzig , Germany. After she graduated with a Business Diploma from a computer and business college in Canada she ran administrative offices for several companies and brings to the company nearly 20 years of experience in office management, administration and accounting as well as laboratory process experience. Mira has managed the administrative functions of the Blue Coast group since 2011.

Rob Thorpe – Associate Senior Metallurgist

Rob graduated with degrees from University of Manchester and Camborne School of Mines, and has more than 10 years of experience in mineral processing. Rob has operations experience from Spain, Ireland, Canada and China at positions up to Mill Manager. Rob has previously worked as a consultant for SGS in Lakefield, Canada and in Cornwall, UK, and has experience from over 60 flowsheet development and plant improvement projects.

Kevan Ford – Associate Senior Consulting Metallurgist

Kevan is an experienced metallurgical engineer with over 30 years of background in mineral processing, pyrometallurgical and hydrometallurgical plant operations with process consulting to operations and projects.

Kevan graduated in South Africa and holds a BSc Eng. degree in Mineral Processing & Metallurgical Engineering and an MSc Eng. degree in Chemical Engineering.

Kevan has worked in operations and in corporate offices for mine owners’ Anglovaal Minerals, Avgold, Richards Bay Iron and Titanium and Kinross Gold in Canada. His experience also includes multiple studies and projects within engineering companies’ Hatch, SNC-Lavalin and Ausenco. His roles have included plant and senior metallurgist, plant superintendent, corporate metallurgist, and engineering project manager and director.

Melanie Bond Cromes – Associate Consulting Metallurgist

Ms. Bond Cromes has 19 years of experience in Metallurgical Engineering including 9 years as Owner of Cromes Metallurgical Consulting, PLLC and 6 years as an associate with Blue Coast Metallurgy Ltd. Her areas of expertise include grinding, classification, flotation, leaching and dewatering; she also has experience with industrial wastewater treatment.

Ms. Bond Cromes received her Bachelor of Science in Metallurgical Engineering, University of Idaho (1995); Master of Science in Environmental Science, University of Idaho (1999) and is a Registered Professional Engineer in the States of Alaska (2004) and South Dakota (2013). She is currently a member of the National Society of Professional Engineers; the Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Exploration (SME); the American Exploration and Mining Association (AEMA); the South Dakota Engineering Society and is an Honorary Member of the Phi Sigma Biological Sciences Honor Society. In her ‘free time’ she is an officer in the Rochford Volunteer Fire Department.

Jennifer Tobin – Associate Senior Metallurgist

Jennifer is a professional engineer with experience in plant operations and project management. Prior to joining Blue Coast, Jennifer worked with Barrick Gold in Nevada where she was most recently the Roaster Superintendent at the Goldstrike Property. Jennifer has experience in several gold processing technologies, primarily roasting and heap leaching. Before Barrick, Jennifer was a process engineer with Shell Canada in Sarnia, Ontario.

Jennifer holds a degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of New Brunswick and a business diploma in Technology Management and Entrepreneurship, also from the University of New Brunswick. Jennifer is a licenced professional engineer Ontario.
